Home Staging and the importance of a good old fashioned CLEAN. Spring cleaning: our mothers and grandmothers did it with brillo and vinegar, elbow grease on their hands and knees, rubber gloves and kerchiefs. This cleaning bug usually hits me at least once a year: A day when I can open several windows, wipe down the walls and really get down to the nitty gritty. In addition to a thorough cleaning, I think every season change deserves a bit of paring down and re-organization. Clear off the shelves when you clean, and don’t put everything back. Move out the furniture for vacuuming and floor mopping and don’t move every piece back in. Experiment with a new furniture design that leaves more open space. (Some people like to store their excess for a while before truly purging it from the household. If you need to, store these unnecessary things for a short while before donation/sale.) To me, nothing says fresh and new like a super clean, airy, sparse space. Think of using only the essentials for function and beauty.
