Home Staging: Make your bed in four easy steps: Keep it simple, keep it square, keep it clean, keep it pressed.I have a dear high, school friend whom I have known for well over two decades. I found it interesting and very telling that, amongst other catch-up questions like, “tell me about the wedding” and “how is your son whom I haven’t seen since he was in second grade?” she asked me what I was cooking? and how I was making my bed these days. She went on to tell me that uses a quilt in her restored, turn of the century home. Sounds perfect.(My friend is also a clean and neat, “let’s make it pretty” kind of gal. We have been sharing tips on the fine art of making a home for decades…cooking, flowers, beds…and the important stuff too, family, friends and the stinking weather) So, here it is Dr. CKWD: How Annie Makes the Bed in her mid-century home.
Keep it simple, keep it square, keep it clean, keep it pressed.
I think the days of over-stuffed and over-fluffed, with lots of pattern and pillows are gone. Pick three colors. I love solids, but pattern works. Neatly and tightly tuck the ends and corners. Fold back the cover. I like to stack two pillows upright , or try three flat and stacked, with the smallest on top in a contrasting color. . Think Zen…then add a splash of …texture, color, dimension.
