Home Staging includes closets, entryways, mud rooms, breeze ways, foyers…whatever door you come in is right where you need the most help in organization and de-cluttering. Personally I could spend all day moving shoes around my front hall…which tells me that my system isn’t working. In any organizational project, storing things where they are used is the key to the maintenance of order. If it’s easy to put away and retrieve, chances are more likely that tidiness will reign. I have decided that my front closet needs more easy access shoe storage than it does hanging coat storage. I am hoping that this will ease my shoe shuffling, improve the aesthetic of the closet and bring peace to the land…or at least my front mat!
In the case of staging a closet, order alone is not enough. A good rule of thumb is to empty two thirds of the contents of your closet. This gives the impression that there is ample room to store everything in this closet…a dream come true! In addition to scarcity, the closet should be clean and immaculately folded/arranged. Again the idea is that in this closet, organization and ease rule.
